When I first saw the movie = WALL-E = it disturbed me to see humans so BIG and immobile. Everyone needed to go around in one of those mechanical chairs. Those chairs are supposed to be for the extreme elderly = not for people that are so big that they no longer can use their legs.
The sad thing is that many are having to use those chairs = and they are not old. I was in Walmart the other day and I witnessed something that was both sad and scary. A large male was complaining to the Walmart associate that there was not a mechanical chair available for him to use to go around the store and shop. He told the associate that he was not able to shop in the store without the assistance of the chair. I was flabbergasted! He was middle aged = so what the hell was the matter with his legs. What happened was his weight made it painful for him to walk. His ankles, knees, hip and back were not able to handle his weight. It was like I was watching a WALL-E show in real life.
Many are concerned about the weight issue, especially in America. It seems to have really got out of hand. Many are so overweight that they are impaired. I've seen people half my age but they looked like they were 3 of me. They could barely walk.
In the parking lot, you often see people trying to get a close spot in front of the store. Why? It isn't because they are elderly. We have handicapped parking spots for the elderly. No = it is because they are impaired because of their weight.
I always park at the back of the parking lot. Why? The walk to the door is good exercise. You have to fit in exercise every day. It is a simple way to add a little exercise to my routine. I feel like yelling at these people going around and around in the parking lot for several minutes = "Stop and Park! Use your LEGS before you LOSE them!"
Physical therapy clinics are full of people that are suffering because they've messed up their bodies because they've lost control of their weight. It is not all the Fast Food chains fault that people have no will power. I've seen plenty of overweight people in Walmart with 2 or more full buggies. I've seen plenty of overweight people come out of Sam's with overflowing buggies = one family buying enough food for an army.
I've already noticed that all the stores have added a section for overweight people. It's like America has given up on trying to do something about the weight crisis.
It's very sad to see so many people struggling with their weight. In hot areas, it can be unbearable to try to walk carrying hundreds of pounds of fat. I worry that all these home delivery companies that came into being during the COVID epidemic will make the situation in America worse. Many will become ill because of this weight issue. It's a fact = excessive weight causes many of the health complications that lead to fatalities.
I hope that we come up with a positive solution in the future for handling the weight issues in America. If not, I fear that many Americans will not be around to enjoy their Golden Years.
Take care,
Lindsay Kennen
Very true. We are in a strange time when what used to be the average size for clothes, chairs, doors, etc., is too small for a large percentage of the population. Perhaps it's the cars, the food stamps or just the general acceptance of the situation.
